Meet our Panelists!

Ernesta Adams graduated from Winthrop University in 2016 with a Master of Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. In addition, she has an undergraduate degree from Winthrop as well in psychology. Ernesta later completed 2 years of clinical supervision and passed the state licensure exam to become a Licensed Professional Counselor as well as a National Certified Counselor. She has experience working with a range of populations and fields within counseling including mental health, substance abuse, career counseling and most recently at the university level. Her goals as a counselor are to assist individuals in developing the tools/skills to become self-sufficient in managing various life stressors as well as breaking the stigma associated with mental illness.


Jo Henry is a Librarian with the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library. Previously, she was the Information Services Librarian at South Piedmont Community College. Additionally, she has over twenty years' experience in sports club management and instruction. Ms. Henry obtained a Master of Library and Information Studies from the University of North Carolina Greensboro and a Master of Public Administration from Georgia Southern University. She has published in Journal of Library Administration, College & Research Libraries News, Community & Junior College Libraries, Public Services Quarterly, and Library Review, and has presented at the ALA Annual Conference, North Carolina Library Association Conference, South Carolina Library Association-Southeastern Library Association Conference, and Metrolina Library Conference. Ms. Henry is co-author of The Dysfunctional Library: Challenges and Solutions to Workplace Relationships (2018), The Mindful Librarian: Connecting the Practice of Mindfulness to Librarianship (2016), Fundamentals for the Academic Liaison (2014), and The Personal Librarian: Enhancing the Student Experience (2014).


Kaetrena Davis Kendrick, M.S.L.S. is Associate Professor, Associate Librarian at the University of South Carolina Lancaster. Kendrick earned her M.S.L.S. from the historic Clark Atlanta University School of Library and Information Studies. Her research interests include professionalism, ethics, racial and ethnic diversity in the LIS field, and the role of digital humanities in practical academic librarianship. Named the Association of College & Research Libraries' (ACRL) 2019 Academic/Research Librarian of the Year, Kendrick is co-editor of The Small and Rural Academic Library: Leveraging Resources and Overcoming Limitations (Chicago: ACRL 2016) and author of Kaleidoscopic Concern: An Annotated, Chronological Bibliography of Diversity, Recruitment, Retention, and Other Concerns Regarding African American and Ethnic Library Professionals and Global Evolution: An Annotated, Chronological Bibliography of International Students in U.S. Academic Libraries (ACRL 2009, 2007). Kendrick is also the creator and lead facilitator of the Renewal Workshop, which is designed to lead library employees back to clarity and purpose in the wake of low morale. Dr. Richard Moniz is the Head Librarian at Horry Georgetown Technical College. He previously served as the Director of Library Services for Johnson & Wales University's North Miami campus from 1997 - 2004 and Director of Library Services for Johnson & Wales University's Charlotte campus from 2004-2018. He is also an adjunct instructor for the University of North Carolina at Greensboro's LIS program. In addition to publishing numerous articles, he is sole author of the textbook Practical and Effective Management of Libraries (2010), co-author of Fundamentals for the Academic Liaison (2014), co-author and co-editor of The Personal Librarian: Enhancing the Student Experience (2014), co-author of The Mindful Librarian (2016), co-author of Librarians and Instructional Designers: Innovation and Collaboration (2016), co-author of The Dysfunctional Library: Challenges and Solutions to Workplace Relationships (2017), and co-editor of Recipes for Mindfulness in Your Library (2019).
